What a Bountiful Resident Lookup Covers
There is no unrestricted current Bountiful resident roll. A careful resident lookup uses several narrow records and keeps each answer separate. The Davis County parcel map can show ownership context. Utah Voter Search can show a registered voter. XChange can show a dated public case summary. OVRS controls vital certificates. A license or business result identifies a regulated professional or entity, not a complete household. A jail or offender result applies only to its stated custody or registry scope.
| Record | What it can confirm | Where | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Parcel and property | Owner context, parcel, situs or mailing address as available | Davis County Property Search | Public map; informational |
| Voter registration | Registered voter fields and address match | Utah Voter Search | Individual form; protections apply |
| Court case summary | Case number, filing date, party, court and public history | Utah Courts XChange | Paid search or courthouse computer |
| Vital record | Birth, death, marriage or divorce event | Utah OVRS, Clerk, Archives | Eligibility and opening periods apply |
| License or entity | Professional status or business filing | Utah DOPL or business registration | Public search, certified routes vary |
Use a source because it matches the question, not because it produces the most names. For a current person, a property and voter match are different facts. For family history, a directory or cemetery result may be more useful than a current roll.
Start the Bountiful Identity Anchor
A same-name problem is easier when the first search uses two anchors. Combine the person's full name with a Bountiful or Davis County address, birth year, spouse or parent, party role, profession, case number, or dated event. The research found no official local surname-frequency study, so a name that feels common should be treated as unproven until a second field agrees.
- Write the name exactly, then try middle initial, spelling, and order variants.
- Test the name in the county property map if a Bountiful address or parcel is known.
- Use the Utah voter form with street, city, ZIP, or date of birth when the field is available.
- Check XChange with jurisdiction, last name, first name, case type, birth date, citation, or date range.
- Compare the result to a license, business, directory, cemetery, vital, or historical record, and save the source date.
This workflow anchors a person without treating an assembled profile as proof. If two records disagree, return to the custodian. The county Assessor handles value questions; the Recorder handles ownership and legal-description questions; the Clerk handles elections and county records; Utah agencies handle statewide fields.
Confirm the Property Connection
The Davis County Property Search GIS accepts Address or Parcel ID. Zoom until parcel lines appear, enter the value, select the dropdown match, click the parcel, and read Parcel Details. The Tax Information link supplies the parcel ID and legal description. Those fields can support a name-to-place check, but the county warns that the map is informational, may be about 24 hours old, and is not legal evidence.
Separate the situs address from the mailing address. The situs is the physical parcel in Bountiful. The mailing address is where tax notices or owner correspondence go, and it may be elsewhere. The owner shown in property data is not necessarily the current occupant. A property result should be followed by an independent person record when the question is who lives there.
Keep the parcel ID and legal description with the name search, then ask the Recorder or Assessor to resolve an ownership or valuation question.
Run the Six-Field Utah Voter Search
The Utah Voter Search form shows First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Street Address, City, and Zip. Public voter fields can include name, physical or mailing address, year of birth, party affiliation, and vote history. Full date of birth, Social Security number, Utah driver or state ID number, email, and phone are withheld. Protected-voter rules can hide a person or field.
Use the voter result as a registration match. It does not prove that every member of a Bountiful household lives at the address, and it does not provide an unrestricted bulk list. Utah's 2025 to 2026 privacy transition means the live privacy page should be rechecked before relying on current public-field treatment. Record the date of the search and the exact fields returned.
A missing result may reflect privacy rules, a mismatch, or registration status. Keep the lookup date for a later comparison.
Use XChange for a Dated Court Signal
Utah Courts XChange covers Davis County District and Justice case summaries. Its search controls include jurisdiction, search type, case number, last name or company, first name, case type, scope, birth date, citation number, citation location, and date range. A first-name wildcard is documented. Results can show county, court location, case type, case number, filing date, first and last name, birth date, party code, and case history or documents.
Expanded case fields may include charges, level, plea and disposition dates, judge, attorneys, agencies, proceedings, account detail, and filed addresses. An address is not guaranteed. XChange excludes sealed, expunged, adoption, juvenile, child-welfare, and several private family categories. Public case summaries are not a statewide criminal-history certificate.
Current pricing in the research is $10 for a guest initial credit, $0.35 per search, and $1 per document image. A monthly account has a $25 setup fee and $40 monthly charge for 500 searches, then $0.35 each. Free XChange computers exist at most district courthouses and some justice courts. A clerk copy request is the route for an actual file.
Know When a Vital Record Is Closed
Utah OVRS issues birth, stillbirth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates or abstracts. Online, mail, and local health department routes are available. Mail requests can take at least six weeks. Before a record opens, the subject, immediate family, guardian, or legal representative may need proof of relationship or legitimate interest, current identification, and payment. A false statement can be criminal, fees are nonrefundable, and incomplete requests can be held for 90 days.
| Record | Opening and route |
|---|---|
| Birth | 1905 to present at OVRS; generally private for 100 years; Archives has 1905 to 1924 material and a Davis index. |
| Death | 1905 to present at OVRS; generally private for 50 years; older research uses Archives, cemetery, newspaper and probate sources. |
| Marriage | OVRS mainly 1978 to 2010, limited later coverage; Davis County marriage books begin in 1887. |
| Divorce | OVRS abstract is distinct from a court file; older Davis registers include 1877 and 1880 indexes. |
Utah Code ยง26B-8-125 sets the 100-year birth, 50-year death, and 75-year other-vital-record rules. The first certified fees in the research are $22 birth, $18 stillbirth, $30 death, and $18 marriage or divorce abstract. Check the current OVRS schedule before ordering.
Find an Heir Through Older Records
An heir or former household may be located through a public probate, deed, cemetery, marriage, obituary, or directory chain when a historical address is known. Begin with the parcel and legal description, then use the Recorder, Archives, and FamilySearch. The Davis catalog includes deed books, probate and decree books, wills, marriages, naturalization, and Lakeview Cemetery records. This is a family-history use of a resident lookup, not a claim that one result names every heir.
Davis marriage Series 6040 begins in 1887 and preserves applications and licenses on three reels. Early applications can include residences, ages, application date, and parental consent; licenses can show issue or marriage dates, officiator, and witness signatures. The Archives Davis divorce register index adds 1877 and 1880 material. Use series, reel, volume, and page citations.
The library and Historical Society provide local context. The Bountiful Centennial finding aid includes an early-homes guide, centennial history, and material spanning 1882 to 1992. Treat the finding aid as a research lead, not as a live directory.
Use Business and License Records Carefully
Utah DOPL's free Verify a License route accepts a name, profession, license number, or expiration and status path. Disciplinary searches use entity name, license number, or individual name. A certified verification request costs $20 per request in the research. Capture the licensee name, profession, number, expiration, and discipline link when visible.
Utah Business Registration offers entity-name or entity-number search. Public filings can show a business name, registration documents, registered agent or principal address, and filing dates when public. A registered-agent address is not proof of a person's home or daily location. A business entity is also not the same as an individual resident.

The DOPL capture shows a statewide professional route that can help distinguish two people with the same name.

The business-registration capture is a separate entity trail. Keep it separate from a personal address or voter result.
Check Custody Records by Scope
The Davis County Sheriff inmate roster is a current booking roster with name search, booking date, name, gender, age, detail links, and pagination. It is not a complete county resident list and does not answer whether a person lives at a Bountiful address. The Utah Department of Corrections route uses name or UDC ID for people in state custody, on probation, or parole.
The Utah Attorney General's offender and VINE resources provide custody notifications and the state offender-search entry points. SONAR is the state sex or kidnapping offender registry resource. Registry accuracy is not guaranteed, and the official resources warn against harassment, stalking, or threats. Use the agency's stated scope and date.

The jail-roster capture shows the current table and pagination. It should not be read as a general record of Bountiful residents.

The DOC capture represents a different state custody system. Do not merge its result with a county booking entry without checking dates and identifiers.

The Utah Attorney General capture is a third, state registry and custody-notification route with its own scope.
Legal Limits on a Resident Lookup
Utah Safe at Home provides qualified survivors with a substitute address and mail forwarding, while actual address and participation information are shielded. Protected voter categories, sealed cases, juvenile records, private family matters, and DPPA-protected DMV data can also limit a resident lookup. A missing result is not proof that a person has no record.
Utah's GRAMA law, Utah Code Title 63G Chapter 2, is a request path for public records held by a named custodian. Include names, dates, places, parcel or case numbers, and the type of record sought. Inspection has no fee, while copies and staff time can have actual-cost charges. A denial can be appealed within 30 days.
For one person, verify with the record office. Correct a property issue with the Assessor or Recorder, an election issue with the Clerk or voter office, a court issue with the clerk, a vital issue with OVRS, and a license issue with DOPL.
Recognize Stale or Same-Name Data
Source dates matter. Property Search may be about 24 hours old. A voter record reflects registration, not a household census. A court address may be old because it was filed in a case. A directory entry describes an edition year. A cemetery search can be incomplete. A business or license address can belong to an entity or registered agent. Write down what each source actually says.
When a match feels wrong, compare middle name or initial, birth year, spouse or parent, city, parcel, party role, profession, dated legal description, and record type. If the conflict remains, stop the lookup and ask the custodian for the correction or copy route. A clean uncertainty note is more useful than a confident guess.
